I remember being a kid, getting a new book, and voraciously ripping through the pages until I had consumed the entire story, finishing hundreds of pages in as little as 48 hours. Well, after a degree in Literature and eight years of teaching high school English, those days are long gone. Rarely do I make the time or find the energy after grading stacks of essays or planning novel units to read for my own pleasure.

That’s why the Book of the Month subscription intrigued me. One book a month, surely I could manage that.

Well. The monthly boxes are starting to pile up.

Currently, I’m slowly chipping away at The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles and My Money My Way by Kumiko Love (@thebudgetmom on Instagram). I’m really enjoying The Lincoln Highway, but it is a slow read for me. At nearly 600 pages, I’m about a quarter of the way through it.

Next on the docket are my backed up Book of the Month books. First Born by Will Dean, The Lies I Tell by Julie Clark, and True Biz by Sara Nović.
